The Atlanta Opera is wrapping up the 2012-2013 season with Gioachino Rossini’s lighthearted comedy, The Italian Girl in Algiers. Set in a visually pleasing 1930’s pop-up book, the storyline offers ample opportunities to laugh. Mustafa, the Bey of Algiers, decides he is bored with his wife and would much prefer an Italian girl. Mustafa arranges for Lindoro, a recent capture, to marry his current wife so that he may be with the striking Isabella.

BEECHWOOD INN CULINARY RETREAT What: Beechwood Inn’s Wild Foods Foraging Walk and Dinner Weekend. Guests forage for food along the lush forests of the Southern Appalachians with an herbalist, author and wild foods chef. The chef will then prepare a gourmet dinner combining local wild edibles, farm produce and regional wines from Beechwood’s Wine Spectator Award-wining cellar.
